So far I think that English 201 has went rather smoothly. Our instructor has always been prepared and on time. Also, our instructor gives us exact specifications of what he expects out of us students in our writing. We are all aware of what is going to happen during each class period with the calendar postings on WebCT and the syllabus. For the most part I enjoy class and think it is pretty fun considering that most of my English courses have been kind of dry.
Overall, I like the class, but there are a few things I am not so fond of. I did not particularly like writing three differently focused drafts (the expressive, expository, and argumentative) because I felt that my drafts all had so many different things to say on the topic but in the end our draft is more expository and argumentative without the expressive side. Yes, we are expressing our opinion but yet we can not tell our feelings since it is a more formal paper. So I though that writing the three drafts was kind of a waste of time because they were all so different.
As far as peer review, I really liked the way we did it. It was a little nerve-racking having to read your paper in front of everybody, but at the same time it was very beneficial. We were able to have instant feedback and have the rest of the week to work on our papers and make corrections. I especially appreciated the feedback from our instructor but would have maybe liked even more comments out of him since he is the one grading our papers in the end.
Overall, I guess it is hard for me to say what I think is going great and going badly at this point of the class because it seems that class just began. I like the blog idea since it is different, and we can receive comments from peers and our instructor. All in all, I think class is going really well as mentioned before, and I think it will be a fun semester.
